Welcome to my Amputee Support Pages where I share a bit of my life from an amputee's point of view. From having a cast made like the picture above, to wearing a new limb for the first few times, getting to know what it is like to again be up on two feet.
I am going through the process now of having an artificial limb, "Prosthesis," made and plan to take many Digital pictures documenting the experience as it happens. It is my hope that by sharing my struggle to get back to walking that I will encourage other Amputees to seek out good Prosthetic services.
I am here to say that I once had a man who made limbs for other people no problem, but for me? He hands me a leg with a waist belt that WOULD NOT EVEN GET AROUND MY WAIST! He then said, "Take it as a hint to lose some weight." Needless to say I nearly hit him over the head with the defective thing, but instead, I went home angrily, called my doctor's nurse who reassured me that I most definitely needed a second opinion.
This page will be growing so check back to see the changes over then coming weeks as I add pictures and descriptions of what it was like. Thank you for visiting and happy Surfing!
